What are the Benefits of Wheatgrass

With the number of studies showing the benefits of wheatgrass on one’s health, it is no wonder how the various forms of this common wheat plant have become increasingly popular. Wheatgrass is not only recommended to health junkies like athletes and body builders but also to people who need to further improve their frail health.

While wheatgrass blades could be chewed, they should not be swallowed at all—not unless they are juiced. Juicing brings out wheatgrass benefits, such as decreased cravings, improved alertness and energy, protection from carcinogenic products, alleviated body pain, stronger immune system and youthful integumentary system.

Moreover, wheatgrass is simply extraordinary compared to other vegetables as it is a fact that one pound of this plant is already equivalent to 23 pounds of typical garden veggies. It is full of beneficial components like minerals, amino acids, enzymes, vitamins (most especially B12) and nutrients and, of course, chlorophyll, which is particularly advantageous to patients who have anemia and blood sugar problems. Chlorophyll could even lower the risk of acquiring colon cancer!

In addition, wheatgrass is also thought to successfully detoxify the body by cleansing the liver and neutralizing heavy metal toxins. There was even a study conducted for patients suffering from ulcerative colitis who drank wheatgrass juice everyday. It was found out that they have effectively detoxified their body, and there are decreased instances of rectal bleeding.

To prove the health benefits provided by wheatgrass, there is also a research involving breast cancer women who have undergone wheatgrass juice therapy, wherein it was observed that there is a reduced necessity for bone marrow and blood-building medicines in the course of chemotherapy without affecting the entire therapy at all.

This is why people are now not limited to buying wheatgrass juice in juice bars as they could already try juicing wheatgrass on their own. They could also choose to buy this plant or simply grow it at their backyard.
